Ich wage zu behaupten, dass dies meine Bewertung nicht beeinflusst hat und ich mir das Buch sowieso gekauft hätte.Ich würde nur wenigen Autoren zugestehen, ein Buch mit dem anmaßenden Titel zu verfassen, das sich als Handbuch für den weitreichenden Komplex "DevOps" bezeichnet. Die Autoren von "The DevOps Handbook" sind jedoch Persönlichkeiten, denen wir dieses Thema überhaupt erst zu verdanken haben. Patrick Debois "erfand" den "DevOps" begriff, indem er eine Konferenz "DevOps Days" ins Leben ruf. Jez Humble verfasste _das_ Buch zu "Continuous Delivery" und Gene Kim ist der Autor der Novelle "The Phoenix Project", die auf weniger technische Art und Weise aufzeigt, was in Firmen mit traditionellen Denkweisen für den IT-Betrieb falsch läuft.Wer Zeit hat, dem empfehle ich zunächst Phoenix Project zu lesen, das die Verbindung zu Lean Manufacturing herstellt und einfach einen fantastischen Übergang zum DevOps Handbook enthält (ohne das Ende des Buches spoilern zu wollen). Das DevOps Handbook greift zu Beginn das Thema Lean Manufacturing erneut auf, was ich persönlich jedoch weniger gelungen finde (mag vielleicht an sprachlichen Barrieren liegen). Ich hoffe, dass Leser das Buch an dieser Stelle nicht frühzeitig weglegen (ein Freund, der Phoenix Project zuvor nicht gelesen hatte meinte dazu, dass er gar nicht verstanden hat, worum es an dieser Stelle ging).Nach dem einleitenden Kapitel geht es jedoch ans Eingemachte. Untermauert durch Referenzen auf andere Publikationen werden existierende Praktiken in Frage gestellt und die Alternativen, wie wir sie aus der DevOps-Welt kennen beschrieben. Der dann stark auf IT fokussierte Hauptteil des Buches liest sich dann (für mich zumindest) auch deutlich angenehmer. Worum es hier genau geht, lässt sich ja sicherlich der Inhaltsangabe entnehmen.Insgesamt hat das Buch seinen Namen wirklich verdient und ich empfehle es jedem, der sich mit IT beschäftigt bzw. dort beschäftigt ist.
Sehr gut gelungenes Handbuch zum Thema DevOps mit Hinführung zum Thema, Problembeschreibung und aufzeigen der wichtigen Leitpunkte zur Umsetzung in die Praxis.
